Ocmulgee River Flooding Prompts Closures at Amerson River Park and Ocmulgee Heritage Trail

Due to the increasing water level of the Ocmulgee River, the Macon-Bibb County Parks & Beautification Department has announced the temporary closure of several areas along the river:

  • Boat ramps at the north and south ends of Amerson River Park.
  • Dirt trails surrounding the pond in Amerson River Park.
  • The paved trail section between the Overlook and the north boat ramp in Amerson River Park.
  • The Spring Street boat ramp.
  • The Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.

These closures will remain in effect until the river level recedes and any necessary cleanup operations are completed. Park visitors using other areas of Amerson River Park in the coming days are advised to avoid any sections that are marked off, as additional closures may be implemented if the river continues to rise.
