I-475 North Collision Involved Vehicle Detached from Trailer by Power Lines

Further investigation into the traffic collision on Interstate 475 North near the Zebulon Road exit on Monday night has revealed that the incident involved a vehicle being towed on a trailer.
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies discovered that the vehicle which was initially reported to have driven off the Tucker Road bridge and collided with a power pole had actually become detached from the trailer it was being transported on. The driver of the towing vehicle was located further down the road, having pulled over after noticing that one of the vehicles on his trailer had come loose due to low-hanging power lines.
A deputy contacted the trailer driver and documented the damages to both vehicles. The driver of the trailer was not charged in the incident.
All lanes of Interstate 475 were reopened to traffic just before 4:00 a.m. Tuesday.
The initial media release, issued on April 7, 2025, reported a single-vehicle collision where a vehicle drove off the side of the Tucker Road bridge and struck a power pole on I-475 North. At that time, deputies had not located the driver of the vehicle and had closed all north and southbound lanes due to downed power lines. The public was asked to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 with any information.
