Stolen Vehicle Driver Reaching 100 MPH Apprehended by Bibb County Deputies After Pursuit

A driver fleeing in a stolen vehicle was taken into custody by Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies after a high-speed pursuit on Friday.

According to a Sheriff’s Office report, a deputy with the S.R.T. Unit observed the driver of a Cadillac Deville traveling on Suan Juan Avenue without a license plate and not wearing a seatbelt. When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver accelerated, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph.

The pursuit was brought to a forceful stop by a deputy with the H.E.A.T. Unit. The driver of the stolen Cadillac, which was reported out of Treutlen County, was found to have an active Superior Court Violation of Probation warrant. The original charges on the warrant were two counts of battery-family violence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The suspect was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and is expected to face numerous additional charges related to the pursuit and the stolen vehicle.
