Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Bonding and Arrest Warrant Scams

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Bonding and Arrest Warrant Scams

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public about two ongoing scams targeting families of inmates and local residents.

In the first scam, individuals posing as representatives of 2nd Chance Bonding, located at 4061 Broadway St., are contacting inmate family members and requesting large sums of money via Cash App to allegedly post bond for incarcerated relatives.

In the second scam, a caller from a private number claims to be a Bibb County deputy, informing victims that they have an arrest warrant for failing to report for jury duty. The scammer demands payment to avoid arrest and may even send a fake warrant with the victim’s name.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that deputies do not call individuals to serve arrest warrants, nor do they demand payments to resolve them. Warrants are served in person, and any bond process follows official booking procedures at the Law Enforcement Center.

Authorities urge residents not to send money through Cash App or other platforms to anyone claiming to be law enforcement. Anyone receiving such a call should document the number and name used and report it at www.Bibbsheriff.us under the “Contact Us” section.

Anyone with information about those impersonating law enforcement or a bonding company is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
