Tennessee Man Arrested for Murder in Georgia Death

Nicholas Antiono Cheaton, 41, of Chattanooga, TN, has been arrested and charged with Murder in connection to the death of William Oliver Jones, 39, of Chickamauga, GA.

The arrest, which occurred on March 21, 2025, was the result of a joint investigation by the GBI’s Investigative Office in Calhoun, the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the United States Federal Probation Office, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

William Oliver Jones was found dead at his home in the 8000 block of West Highway 136 in Chickamauga, GA, on March 14, 2025.

Cheaton was booked into the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center and is awaiting extradition to Georgia.

An autopsy of Jones’ body was performed at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office, but the results are pending.
