Two Arrested in Butts County Methamphetamine Trafficking Investigation

On Monday, March 17, 2025, deputies from the Special Operations Crime Suppression Unit and the Undercover Narcotics Division arrested two individuals suspected of distributing methamphetamines across multiple counties.
Investigators identified Michael Long, of Locust Grove, GA, and Grace Vanmeter, of Monticello, GA, as suspects involved in the sale of illegal drugs. Undercover agents arranged to purchase an ounce of methamphetamine from the two individuals, who agreed to meet at a truck stop in Butts County.
Both Long and Vanmeter were arrested at the scene without incident and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamines.
In a statement following the arrests, Sheriff Gary Long warned drug traffickers about operating in Butts County, saying, “If you have a thought of delivering illegal narcotics into or through Butts County, DON’T. We have plenty of bed space in our jail and we also have a District Attorney that will ensure you serve real time and judges who issue extremely high bonds.”
