Two Injured in Metter Home Invasion Shooting

UPDATE: The GBI has arrested and charged James Bryant, age 44 of Sylvania, GA, with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon in connection with this shooting. The Port Wentworth Police Department apprehended Bryant without incident. Bryant was booked into the Candler County Jail.
Investigators with the Candler County Sheriff’s Office assisted with this investigation.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating a shooting following a reported home invasion in Metter.
On March 6, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Candler County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of Creekside Way. Upon arrival, deputies found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where they are being treated and are listed in stable condition.
