Peachtree City Man Arrested After Standoff, Charged with Assault and False Imprisonment

On the evening of March 1, 2025, Peachtree City Police responded to a domestic violence incident involving a female victim and her husband. After leaving the scene, the victim received messages from her husband claiming he had harmed their three children.
The suspect, identified as Godfrey Forbes, 39, of Ridgeview Ct., Peachtree City, GA, was known to possess multiple firearms. Evidence corroborated allegations of aggravated assault against the victim, leading detectives to obtain arrest warrants.
Due to the severity of the incident and the potential danger to the children, the department’s Special Response Team (SRT) was deployed. Forbes refused to cooperate with negotiators, barricading himself inside his home with the children.
After several hours, SRT officers forced entry and arrested Forbes in an upstairs bedroom, where he was found with multiple loaded firearms. The children were safely rescued and released to family members.
Forbes was transported to the Fayette County Jail and charged with multiple offenses, including:
- Battery – Family Violence (Misd.)
- Aggravated Assault – Family Violence (Fel.)
- Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers (Misd.)
- Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce (Misd.)
- Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony (Fel.)
- Terroristic Threats (Fel.)
- Three Counts of False Imprisonment (Fel.)
- Three Counts of Cruelty to Children in the 3rd Degree (Fel.)
