Tragic Fire Claims Lives of Three Young Children in Atlanta Apartment

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, a devastating fire at the Country Oaks Apartments in the 300 block of Fairburn Road resulted in the deaths of three young children. The victims have been identified as 4-year-old Jhacari White, 1-year-old Xyla White, and 9-month-old Xhalia White.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Atlanta Fire Rescue responded to reports of a fire at the apartment complex. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames emanating from a second-story unit. Crews entered the apartment, extinguished the fire, and located the three children, who had suffered smoke inhalation. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, all three children were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens expressed his condolences, stating, “My heart goes out to this family as we’re dealing with a tragic situation.”

Investigators believe the fire originated in the kitchen area of the apartment.
