Three Arrested in Contraband Drop Attempt at Washington State Prison

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at approximately 11:15 P.M., Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies patrolling the Davisboro area were alerted to a possible attempted contraband drop at Washington State Prison. Upon arrival, a deputy observed two males attempting to toss an item over the prison fence before fleeing into a nearby cornfield to the east.
Shortly thereafter, another deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 24 near the prison. A brief investigation led to the identification of the driver as the getaway suspect. In response, K9 units from both the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Department of Corrections were deployed to search the area.
A short time later, the two suspects were located near a field in the vicinity. Arrested were Amaris Zytrell Porter, 20; Roderick Antonio Sears, 18; and Darius Rashad Wimbley, 20, all residents of Eatonton, Georgia. They now face charges including two counts of Items Prohibited by Inmates (felony), Trading with Inmates (felony), Trafficking Ecstasy (felony), Marijuana with Intent (felony), and Criminal Trespass (misdemeanor).
Authorities from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Department of Corrections, and other agencies will continue to collaborate to ensure the safety of Washington County and state prisons.
