High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest After 18-year-old Driver Flees Haralson County Deputies

On Friday, February 14, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Haralson County Cpl. Travis Short attempted to stop a black Nissan Murano on Highway 27 for speeding 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. Instead of pulling over, the driver accelerated and began driving erratically.

Deputies identified the driver as the pursuit continued, reaching speeds over 90 mph. The suspect drove into oncoming traffic and ran through traffic control devices. Due to the dangerous conditions, deputies discontinued the chase, knowing they could take charges later.

Shortly after, Cpl. Short located the vehicle disabled near the bypass in Buchanan. The driver refused to acknowledge law enforcement but was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.

Montana Grace Haling, 18, of Bremen, GA, faces charges including Felony Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Police, along with more than 20 traffic offenses across two jurisdictions.

Haralson County Sheriff Stacy Williams commended deputies for their decision-making, stating, “These deputies knew who the driver was and recognized it was better for everyone, including her and our citizens, to discontinue the chase. By continuing to stay in the area, they were able to locate and arrest her on her charges.”
