Fugitive Arrested After Pursuit Across State Line in Richmond County

On Friday, February 14th, at approximately 4:35 PM, deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Jackson Rd and Wrightsboro Rd in Augusta. During the stop, the passenger fled the vehicle on foot and was later apprehended by deputies.

The driver of the vehicle then sped off, leading deputies on a pursuit that ended at the South Carolina state line on I-520. North Augusta Police Department took over the pursuit and eventually stopped the vehicle, arresting the driver.

The passenger, identified as 37-year-old Reginald Franklin, was found to have an outstanding warrant for Escape, issued by the Georgia Department of Corrections at Macon State Prison. Franklin also had a felony probation violation warrant in Richmond County.

Sheriff Brantley expressed his gratitude to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Task Force and law enforcement agencies in South Carolina for their assistance in the arrests.
