High School Student in Carroll County Charged in Murder Plot

Carroll County School Administrators and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to a potential threat involving a student at Mount Zion High School (MZHS) on Friday, February 7, 2025.
Officials were alerted to a serious threat made by Dylan Gable, 17, a student at MZHS, against students at both MZHS and Central High School. Due to the nature of the threat, an immediate investigation was launched.
School officials, in coordination with School Resource Officers, conducted a search of Gable’s property and contacted the families of those involved. During the investigation, authorities uncovered alarming conversations detailing a murder plot against another student. The conversations involved two juveniles who allegedly discussed plans to carry out the crime outside of school.
As a result of the investigation, Gable has been charged with Terroristic Threats and Acts, as well as Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony (Murder). The names of the two juveniles are being withheld due to their age. The investigation remains active, with additional charges possible.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office continues to collaborate with Carroll County Schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.
“We take every potential threat seriously, and our response demonstrates our unwavering commitment to student safety,” said Glen Harding, Assistant Superintendent of Support Services. “Our partnership with law enforcement enables us to address concerns effectively and maintain a safe school environment.”
Authorities urge parents, students, and staff to remain vigilant and report any concerning behavior to school officials or law enforcement.
