Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force Nets Over M in Drugs and Cash, 110 Arrests in Six Months

The Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force (NWGDT), in collaboration with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Dallas Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and law enforcement agencies in Polk and Haralson counties, has made significant strides in combatting drug trafficking in the region.

Over the past three months, the task force arrested 65 individuals involved in drug dealing and trafficking, seizing nearly $969,000 in drugs and cash proceeds. During the six-month fiscal period from July 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, the NWGDT arrested 110 drug dealers and traffickers, recovering over $2.2 million in drugs and cash.

District Attorney Robert S. Lane emphasized the importance of the civil asset forfeiture program in disrupting drug trafficking operations. He stated, “It is through the civil asset forfeiture program that law enforcement agencies in Paulding County, along with our state partners, can effectively fight drug trafficking. We must deprive drug dealers of their ill-gotten gains to make a meaningful impact on the drug crisis.” Lane also noted that confiscated proceeds help law enforcement operate without burdening taxpayers.
