Girls Dig Deeper Initiative Launches Leadership Program for Teens in Macon

The Girls Dig Deeper Initiative (GDDI) is preparing to launch its Dig Deep Series, a program designed to teach young girls essential leadership values and skills for personal and professional growth.
The series is open to 20 girls, ages 13 to 17, at no cost. Participants will explore leadership principles and learn how to apply them effectively in various aspects of their lives.
“We hope the girls will be able to learn and apply these leadership values effectively in both their personal and future careers,” said GDDI Founder Najiva Timothee.
Sessions will take place on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at Rosa Jackson Recreation Center, located at 1211 Maynard Street, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
GDDI has received $15,500 in grant funding from the Macon Violence Prevention (MVP) program to support its leadership development efforts. The funding, awarded in two rounds—$5,500 in 2023 and $10,000 in 2024—aims to help young girls overcome challenges such as poverty, absenteeism, academic struggles, disabilities, adverse childhood experiences, and community violence.
