Felon Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit, Overturning Vehicle, and Drug Seizure in Bibb County
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office arrested Travis Sentel Mitchell, a wanted felon, after he led deputies on a dangerous vehicle pursuit on January 31, 2025. Mitchell, suspected of being under the influence, was driving a silver 2018 Dodge Charger when he aggressively weaved in and out of traffic at speeds reaching 80 mph in a 45 mph zone on Mercer University Drive near I-475.
Mitchell continued to flee, but his excessive speed led to him losing control of the vehicle, causing it to go airborne and overturn on Hawaiian Village Drive. Deputies rescued Mitchell from the driver’s seat after the car landed on its roof.
During the pursuit, Mitchell nearly collided head-on with a patrol car driven by a Bibb County K9 Deputy. The deputy, along with his K-9 partner, “Will,” eventually left the roadway and rolled onto its side. Fortunately, both the deputy and the K-9 were unharmed.
In addition to being intoxicated and driving on a suspended license, Mitchell was found in possession of both powder and crack cocaine, along with a .40 caliber firearm, which he was prohibited from carrying due to his previous felony drug convictions. Mitchell now faces multiple charges, including drug possession, firearm possession by a convicted felon, and charges related to the pursuit, as well as outstanding warrants from both Bibb and Peach Counties.
