Teen Victim Shot, Robbed in Forest Park; Three Arrested

The Clayton County Police Department has arrested three suspects in connection with the violent robbery and shooting of 18-year-old Jaylind Banks on January 9, 2025. The incident occurred in the 5700 block of Old Dixie Road, where Banks was ambushed, beaten, robbed, and shot in the thigh, requiring multiple surgeries.

Despite being in critical condition, Banks provided detectives with information that helped identify two of the three suspects. Following an investigation, Detective Moore secured arrest warrants for Mykel Brown, 17, and a 15-year-old juvenile, both charged with:

  • Criminal Attempt – Murder
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Aggravated Battery
  • Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Crime

On January 31, 2025, Clayton County officers, along with the U.S. Marshals Task Force and the Georgia State Patrol SWAT Team, conducted simultaneous arrests. The 15-year-old suspect was apprehended at a residence in Forest Park. Brown was arrested in Riverdale after arriving at a location via Lyft, accompanied by another juvenile who was identified as the third suspect in the case.

All three were taken into custody without incident and transported to CCPD Headquarters for questioning. Brown was later booked into the Clayton County Jail, while both juveniles were taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center.
