Macon’s Entertainment Venues Celebrate Record-Breaking Year

In a landmark year for Macon’s cultural and entertainment scene, the Atrium Health Amphitheater, Macon City Auditorium, and Macon Coliseum achieved historic milestones in 2024, hosting more than 200 events and welcoming over 250,000 attendees.

The events, which ranged from concerts and sports to theater performances and trade shows, have elevated Macon’s status as a regional cultural hub, attracting visitors from over 100 miles away.

Atrium Health Amphitheater Debut

A highlight of the year was the opening of the Atrium Health Amphitheater in March 2024. Located off Eisenhower Parkway as part of the West Macon revitalization project led by Mayor Lester Miller, the venue hosted 22 shows and welcomed more than 100,000 fans in its first year. The amphitheater featured two sold-out concerts, including performances by Jason Aldean and Koe Wetzel, cementing its place in Macon’s vibrant music scene.

Major Announcements and Community Impact

The Macon Coliseum announced a lease extension with the Macon Mayhem hockey team, securing their presence for another five years.

David Aiello, General Manager for the Macon Centreplex venues, reflected on the year’s achievements. “This year has truly been remarkable and one I will never forget. Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure each experience is better than the last, and it’s rewarding to see our venues become such a vibrant and essential part of the community,” he said.

The venues also had a significant economic impact on the region. The Atrium Health Amphitheater alone contributed over $20 million to the local economy. The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Wrestling residency at the Macon Coliseum added $3.35 million in economic benefits.

Looking Ahead

With events like Monster Jam, Charlie Wilson, the Macon Blues Festival, and tributes to the late Dickey Betts already on the 2025 calendar, Mayor Lester Miller encouraged residents to take advantage of the growing entertainment opportunities.

“We already saw an increasing number of people attending better and better shows at the Auditorium and Coliseum, and the addition of the Atrium Health Amphitheater has truly taken our entertainment options to the next level,” said Miller.

The Macon Centreplex venues are poised for another year of exciting events, ensuring something for everyone in 2025.
