Officer-Involved Shooting in Grantville Leads to Death of 26-Year-Old Man

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of 26-year-old Cameron David James in Grantville, Coweta County, Georgia, at the request of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
The incident occurred on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at approximately 8:40 PM, when a GSP Trooper initiated a traffic stop on a Nissan Altima traveling southbound on I-85. After pulling over the vehicle, Troopers removed James from the car. When they attempted to arrest him, James resisted, and a Trooper deployed a Taser. The Taser was ineffective, and James reportedly reached for a firearm inside the car. At that point, a Trooper fired his weapon, striking James.
After being shot, James returned to his car and drove away from the scene. He traveled southbound on I-85 before crashing his vehicle on the side of the road. Despite attempts by Troopers to provide aid, James was pronounced dead at the scene.
No Troopers were injured during the incident. The GBI is conducting the open investigation.
