Maryland Man Detained After Deadly Shooting in Atlanta’s Lindridge-Martin Manor Area

On the morning of January 18, 2025, Atlanta Police officers responded to a report of a person shot at 2470 Cheshire Bridge Rd NE in the Lindridge-Martin Manor neighborhood. Officers arrived on the scene at approximately 7:52 a.m. and discovered a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel were called to the location and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

A crime scene was established, and homicide investigators were called to the location to begin an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

Later that day, around 1:40 p.m., Zone 2 officers were dispatched to a criminal trespass call at 2350 Cheshire Bridge Rd NE, a nearby location. Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered a man accused of trespassing. The responding officer recognized the individual as a suspect in the homicide investigation from earlier that morning.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Malik Anthony Jones of St. Charles, Maryland, was immediately detained. Officers also recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the fatal shooting. Jones was transported to Atlanta Public Safety Headquarters, where he was interviewed by homicide detectives.

Jones has been charged with Murder. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
