Cartersville High School Student Arrested After Shots Fired at Apartment Complex
At approximately 7:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Cartersville Police Department (CPD) officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Ivy Glen Apartments, located at 51 Ridge Row Dr. NE., Cartersville.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a late-model BMW in the parking lot that had been struck by multiple gunshots. Numerous discharged shell casings were found near the vehicle.
Through their investigation, Cartersville Police identified the person responsible as a Cartersville High School student. The student had reportedly gone to school after the shooting and concealed a firearm in a school bathroom.
CPD investigators located two firearms and ammunition in an upstairs bathroom at Cartersville High School. The student was charged with several counts, including Entering Auto, Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Reckless Conduct, and Carrying a Weapon in a School Safety Zone. The juvenile has been remanded to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
