Manhunt Underway by GBI for Suspect Identified in Americus Shooting

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is assisting the Americus Police Department in an aggravated assault investigation following a shooting early Monday morning.

On January 13, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Americus officers responded to a residence on Oak Avenue in Sumter County, where they discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities have identified 31-year-old Joseph Quantez “Quan” Sales of Americus, GA, as a suspect in the incident. A photo of the suspect was not provided by GBI. Arrest warrants for Sales have been issued, charging him with two counts of Aggravated Assault. Sales remains at large as the investigation continues.
