14-Year-Old Student Arrested for Bringing Firearm to Apalachee High School

A 14-year-old male student from Apalachee High School was arrested Wednesday afternoon after being found in possession of a firearm on school grounds. The incident occurred around 2:02 p.m. at the school located at 940 Haymon Morris Road.

School Resource Officers, along with school administrators, responded to the situation and located the student, recovering the weapon without incident. The student was cooperative and compliant during the encounter, and there have been no reports of him threatening anyone with the firearm.

The student, whose identity is being withheld due to his age, has been charged with two counts of Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds, Theft By Taking, and Minor in Possession of a Firearm. He was taken into custody and transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC).

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident. No injuries were reported.
