Six Arrested in Connection to Shooting at Winder Cemetery; One Woman Injured

Winder Police Department arrested six individuals, including four juveniles, in connection to a shooting at Rose Hill Cemetery on January 3, 2025, that left a 19-year-old woman injured.

The suspects include 17-year-old Keishod Hunt and four juveniles, two aged 14 and two aged 15, all from the Winder area, as well as 19-year-old Owen Sudduth of Watkinsville.

The incident unfolded Friday afternoon when officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:45 p.m., reporting a woman with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle parked on Candler Street. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

According to police, Sudduth, the vehicle’s driver, explained that he had arranged to meet several males at Rose Hill Cemetery to sell marijuana. During the transaction, the males allegedly attempted to rob him at gunpoint. As Sudduth fled, one suspect fired a gun, striking the female passenger in the back. Sudduth drove to a nearby parking lot and called 911.

Winder officers, with the help of Barrow County Sheriff’s deputies, canvassed the area and arrested five suspects tied to the shooting. Hunt and the four juveniles were charged with aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, while Sudduth was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Hunt and Sudduth were taken to the Barrow County Detention Center, while the juveniles were transported to a Regional Youth Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing, with Winder Police Department thanking the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
