Multiple Defendants Plead Guilty or Face Convictions in Newton County Cases During Final Trial Week of 2024

During the final trial week of 2024, Newton County District Attorney’s Office reported a series of plea agreements and convictions in high-profile cases.

Levi Micah Eidson pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of Rape, two counts of Aggravated Child Molestation, and one count of Aggravated Sexual Battery. Eidson was sentenced to life on probation, with the first 18 years to be served in prison without the possibility of parole. The sentence was agreed upon to spare the victim from testifying. Eidson will be required to register as a sex offender upon release. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Bailey Wilkinson and investigated by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Randle, facing charges of Cruelty to Children in the First Degree, pleaded guilty shortly before jury selection. Randle received a 15-year sentence, with the first five years to be served in confinement. Randle had been abusive to all members of his family over an extended period. The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Amber Dally.

Terrance Bernard Clark, facing multiple charges including Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, and Cruelty to Children, also pleaded guilty before trial. Clark’s conviction stemmed from a domestic violence incident where he used a firearm against his wife and stepchildren. He was sentenced to 20 years on probation, with the first five years to be served in prison. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Bailey Wilkinson.

Sophia Ashley Odom was convicted by a Newton County jury of Criminal Trespass and Disorderly Conduct after causing a disturbance on a local school bus. The conviction sends a strong message about Newton County’s stance against aggressive behavior toward school staff. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Madison Caito.
