Two Drivers Hospitalized Following Entrapment in Athens Collision

On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, Athens-Clarke County Fire crews responded to a major two-vehicle collision at the 1200 block of Commerce Road (US-441), near the Chevron gas station.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that both drivers, who were the sole occupants of their vehicles, were trapped inside. Using extrication tools, fire crews worked to free the individuals from the wreckage and provided initial medical care at the scene.

National EMS transported both drivers to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
