Convicted Felon Arrested After DUI and Gun Possession Incident in Macon

A traffic stop by a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office S.R.T. Unit deputy on Mercer University Drive escalated into a pursuit before ending on Montpelier Avenue.

The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban initially fled but stopped a few streets away. Deputies discovered the driver, a convicted felon, was wanted on outstanding warrants and found to be in possession of a firearm. An open alcoholic container was also located inside the vehicle.

The suspect admitted to drinking and was taken into custody by a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office H.E.A.T. Unit deputy on driving under the influence charges. He was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center and now faces multiple charges, including DUI.
