Jonesboro High School Marching Band Shines with Major Achievements and International Performances
The Jonesboro High School Majestic Marching Cardinals continue to bring pride to Clayton County with a series of remarkable accomplishments and upcoming performances that showcase their exceptional talent and dedication.
The band’s standout performance at the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade earned them widespread recognition, representing Clayton County with pride on a global stage. In addition, the Majestic Marching Cardinals have been selected as one of only two high schools to receive the prestigious ESPN Band of the Year title, earning a $10,000 award and the opportunity to perform live at Mercedes Benz Stadium on December 13, 2024, as part of the network’s Cricket Celebration Bowl coverage.
Not stopping there, the band has been invited to perform during halftime at the New Orleans Saints game in the Superdome on December 29, 2024, pending district approval. This opportunity will see the band perform in front of thousands at one of the most iconic sports venues in the country.
Looking ahead, the Majestic Marching Cardinals are preparing to represent Clayton County on the international stage at the 2026 London New Year’s Day Parade, a prestigious honor that will place their talent in front of an audience from around the world.
Additionally, the band was named the Metro Atlanta Area High School Band of the Year during the ESPN Red Lobster HBCU Band of the Year event at Mercedes Benz Stadium. Competing against over 30 bands from the region, the Cardinals triumphed, securing their spot as one of the top two high school bands to perform live on ESPN.
The Jonesboro High School Majestic Marching Cardinals, led by Director of Bands Mr. Lynel Goodwin, have wrapped up the year with exceptional accomplishments, and their journey continues toward even greater success. Their performances bring pride to their community, and their next international adventure promises to further elevate their status as one of the nation’s premier high school marching bands.
