Macon Dog Owner Arrested for Animal Cruelty Near Mercer University

On December 14, 2024, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office S.R.T. Unit deputies responded to a home on Belmont Avenue near Mercer University in Macon following a report of animal cruelty.

Deputies arrested a man at the residence on a cruelty to animals charge after determining that he had neglected to seek medical treatment for his dog’s condition for more than a month.

The suspect was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center without incident. The dog was taken into custody by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement and is now receiving veterinary care.

The case remains under investigation.
