Former Douglas County Jailer Arrested for Sexual Assault of Inmate
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested former jailer Jayavierre Johnson, 34, following an internal investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct with an inmate. Johnson faces three counts of Sexual Assault by a Correctional/Juvenile Facility Employee.
The investigation revealed that Johnson engaged in sexual relations with an inmate while working at the facility. The arrest occurred on December 11, 2024, and Johnson is currently being held at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. He is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing tomorrow.
As a result of the findings, Johnson’s employment with the Sheriff’s Office was terminated. Sheriff Tim Pounds emphasized his commitment to upholding integrity within the department, stating, “This kind of behavior will not be tolerated.” He reaffirmed the department’s dedication to transparency, professionalism, and accountability.
Sheriff Pounds added, “When they do wrong, they are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. I expect the same level of accountability from everyone that works here.”
