Four Arrested in Macon Drug and Firearm Bust, Including Teenagers and Fugitive
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, alongside the Gang Unit, Property Investigators, Homeland Security Investigations, ATF, and United States Postal Inspectors, arrested four individuals on Thursday, December 5, 2024, following a raid on a residence in the 3700 block of Greenway Place.
Investigators had received intelligence regarding the delivery of an illegal Glock Sear switch, a device that converts a semi-automatic firearm into a fully automatic weapon, to the residence. Surveillance confirmed the package being brought inside, prompting investigators to execute a search warrant.
Inside the home, authorities apprehended four suspects without incident and seized 20 grams of methamphetamine and five firearms, one of which was reported stolen in a November 1 Entering Auto incident in Bibb County.
The suspects were identified as:
- Christian Lewis Winters, 17, who was in possession of the Glock Sear switch.
- Devon Andrew Winters, 17.
- Hunter Wayne Smith, 24, a fugitive wanted in Alabama and a convicted felon found with a firearm.
- Brittany Leann Sheffield, 35.
Charges filed include:
- Christian Winters: Possession of a Machine Gun During Commission of a Crime, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under Eighteen.
- Devon Winters: Possession of a Machine Gun During Commission of a Crime.
- Hunter Smith: Two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon; his outstanding warrant was served.
- Brittany Sheffield: Possession of Schedule Two Narcotics and two counts of Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony.
All suspects are being held without bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
