Suspect Arrested After Breaking into Home and Attempting Escape in North Atlanta
On October 9, 2024, at approximately 9:44 AM, officers responded to a residential burglary in the 100 block of Biscayne Drive NW. The victim contacted 911 after observing an unidentified male breaking into his home and stealing a firearm, captured on surveillance footage. The victim provided a description of the suspect to dispatchers, which was relayed to responding officers.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed a male matching the description provided. When the suspect spotted the officers, he fled through a nearby apartment complex and attempted to elude them by scaling a tall fence. However, the suspect’s escape attempt was unsuccessful, and he was quickly apprehended.
During his capture, the suspect was found wearing multi-colored socks on his hands in an attempt to conceal his identity. Officers also recovered the victim’s firearm, which the suspect had attempted to hide under a bush.
The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Kenneth Whack. He was charged with burglary (1st degree), criminal trespass/damage to property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and obstruction of law enforcement officers. Whack was transported to the Fulton County Jail for processing.
