Man Arrested for Filing False Report After Losing $1,000 at Albany Mall
Albany officers responded to a call at the Albany Mall, located at 2601 Dawson Rd, on December 3, 2024, after a 20-year-old male, Cameron Douglas Hammond, reported that a male suspect snatched $1,000 from his hand and fled the area with two females.
Upon arrival, investigators gathered statements and spoke with a witness, who revealed that Hammond had been playing a gambling game inside the mall. Further investigation showed that Hammond had actually lost his money while gambling, and the claim of theft was false.
As a result, Hammond was arrested and charged with False Statements in Writing/False Report of a Crime. He was transported to the Dougherty County Jail for booking.
