Buford Man Arrested for Package Thefts and Drug Possession Following Investigation

On November 26, 2024, Gwinnett County Police officers from the East Precinct Community Response Team arrested 36-year-old Kyle Thomas Witzel of Buford in connection with a series of package thefts at an apartment complex on Laurel Crossing Parkway.

Officers, following up on complaints of thefts in the area, identified Witzel through surveillance footage showing him stealing packages from the community mailroom. Investigators located Witzel, who resides in the same complex, and arrested him without incident.

A search of Witzel’s apartment uncovered multiple stolen packages, along with significant quantities of marijuana and anabolic steroids. Witzel now faces multiple charges, including three counts of theft by taking, porch piracy, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of more than one ounce of marijuana.

Witzel is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail, and additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.
