Suspect Arrested After Burglary of Ace Hardware in Macon
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators have arrested a suspect in connection with a commercial burglary at Ace Hardware on Riverside Drive. The incident occurred in the early hours of November 21, 2024, when deputies responded to an alarm at the store around 12:44 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies reviewed in-store surveillance footage, which showed the suspect forcibly entering the business, loading a cart with several power tools, and fleeing with the stolen items.
The suspect, described as a black male wearing a black jacket, red pants, and a gray cap, was later spotted on Pio Nono Avenue. Following a brief foot chase, he was apprehended, and the stolen merchandise was found in his possession. The suspect was identified as 45-year-old August Lee Holt of Macon.
During further investigation, it was revealed that Holt was connected to multiple other commercial burglaries currently under investigation. Holt was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and is being held without bond. He faces a charge of Felony Second Degree Burglary.
