Three Suspects Arrested in Blackburn Park Murder After Robbery Plot

Brookhaven Police have arrested three suspects in connection with a November 9, 2024, homicide at Blackburn Park. Officers arrived on the scene at approximately 5:26 p.m., discovering a male victim, identified as 21-year-old Brandon Xavier Davis of Decatur, GA, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound near the park’s tennis courts.

The investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly conspired to lure Davis to the park under the pretense of a business transaction, intending to rob him. Following the shooting, Brookhaven detectives conducted a detailed investigation, collecting witness statements and executing search warrants. On November 13, a warrant was carried out at an Atlanta residence associated with the alleged getaway driver.

Brookhaven Police utilized Flock cameras and License Plate Readers, providing critical leads that allowed detectives to identify and locate the suspects swiftly. Brookhaven Mayor John Park commended the success of the city’s crime-fighting technology in aiding the investigation, stating, “Brookhaven’s ongoing investments in cutting-edge crime-fighting technology has once again brought a swift resolution to this senseless and violent crime. I hope this development brings some comfort to the grieving family and disturbed neighbors.”

  • Azra Sheppard

Brookhaven Police Chief Brandon Gurley emphasized the importance of collaboration with local law enforcement in solving the case, stating, “This investigation highlights the critical role of inter-agency cooperation and methodical police work in achieving justice.”
