GSP Seeks Public Assistance in Mitchell County Hit-and-Run Investigation Resulting in Fatality

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is seeking public assistance in an investigation regarding a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of an 88-year-old man. The hit-and-run occurred on September 20, 2024, around 6 p.m. on Mount Olive Road in Pelham, Georgia, in Mitchell County.

Investigators initially believed the suspect vehicle may have been a 1990s Ford model, specifically a Ranger, Bronco, or Explorer, or a late 1990s Chevrolet Silverado.

Now, after following an analysis of the victim’s clothing, SCRT is looking for vehicles in gray color from the following models and years:

  • 1998-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
  • 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue
  • 2004 Chevrolet Malibu
  • 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
  • 1998-2007 Chevrolet Silverado
  • 1998-2007 GMC Sierra

NOTE: The vehicle is expected to have damage to the front passenger side headlight area.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information regarding the suspect or vehicle to come forward, as even small details could greatly aid in the investigation.
