Jones County Man Sentenced to Three Life Sentences for Sexual Child Abuse

In February, 2024, Jones County deputies arrested David Clinton Smith and charged him with three counts of Aggravated Child Molestation, Cruelty to Children in the First Degree, Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes, and two counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

On Wednesday, October 30th, a jury of Jones County citizens found Smith guilty of all charges after hearing all the evidence. Judge Trammell presided over the trial, and after the jury reached their verdict, she sentenced Smith to three consecutive life sentences plus fifty years to be served in prison.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement thanking Assistant District Attorneys Cara Fiore and Eesha Kumar who prosecuted the case, as well as Investigators Simmons and Murphy for their work on the case.
