Investigation Underway in Quitman Church Fire, Possible Arson Suspected
On October 24, Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced an ongoing investigation into a structure fire at Modern-Day Holiness Church on West Crawford Street in Quitman, Georgia. The fire, reported around 6:24 a.m. on October 23, is suspected to involve arson after investigators, with the aid of an Ignitable Liquid K-9 Detection unit, found evidence of possible accelerants at the scene.
“I urge anyone with information to call the 24/7 Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804,” said Commissioner King. A reward of up to $10,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and prosecution, and callers may remain anonymous.
The commissioner’s office is working alongside Quitman’s police and fire departments in this investigation.
