Macon Dads Invited to ‘Bike with Dad’ Event for Family Fun and Safety
Macon dads are encouraged to grab their bikes and bring their children to Carolyn Crayton Park on Saturday, November 2, at 10:00 a.m. for the first-ever “Bike with Dad” event. The event, inspired by the successful “Ice Cream with Dads” gathering in August, aims to create fun family moments while promoting community safety.
“We wanted to bring families together in another way and work with community partners to help them be safer,” said Macon Violence Prevention Coordinator Jeremy Grissom, noting plans for future dad-centered events.
Charise Stephens, founder of U Create Macon, is excited for families to connect through biking. “This will be a fun and healthy way to bond with your family,” she said, adding that a bike safety class will also be held during the event.
A partnership among Macon Violence Prevention, U Create Macon, Major Taylor Kidz, United Way of Central Georgia’s Parents as Teachers program, and FB4K, the event is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets, but for those without, U Create Macon has 30 bikes available for borrowing with prior registration. If a family needs to borrow a bike for the morning, register here: https://forms.gle/oh4drh9AreKGURN5A.
“Events like this strengthen our community by investing in parent-child relationships,” said Carl Tims, COO of United Way of Central Georgia.
