Two Killed in Fiery Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 27 in Walker County
On October 16, 2024, at 11:08 PM, Walker County 911 issued a BOLO from Chattooga County warning of a wrong-way driver traveling north in the southbound lanes of Highway 27. At 11:23 PM, a head-on collision occurred just south of Old Lee School Road.
Officers arrived to find one vehicle engulfed in flames. LaFayette Post 41 Troopers reported that a Chevrolet truck traveling the wrong way collided head-on with a Toyota Corolla. Both vehicles spun due to the impact, trapping both drivers. Despite efforts by emergency personnel, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
One victim has been identified as 30-year-old Levi Brown of Menlo. The other driver remains unidentified and has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for identification. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
