LaGrange Man Arrested for Burglary; Nearly All Stolen Currency Recovered

On October 13, 2024, deputies from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary at a residence located in the 6600 block of Hogansville Road. The victim informed authorities that a significant amount of U.S. currency had been stolen from the property.

The case was subsequently handed over to the Criminal Investigations Division for a thorough investigation.

On October 17, investigators arrested 42-year-old Matthew Ellington of LaGrange, charging him with one count of burglary. Law enforcement officials were able to recover nearly all of the stolen currency and returned it to the victim.
