Norcross Man Charged with Murder in Fatal Shooting Outside Gas Station
The Gwinnett County Police Department has arrested 31-year-old Donte Dieal Newcomb-Donnelly of Norcross in connection with the fatal shooting of Anthony Bernard Miles, age 41. Newcomb-Donnelly has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes. He is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
The incident occurred on October 11, 2024, at 4169 Jimmy Carter Boulevard, where officers responded to reports of a shooting in front of a gas station. Upon arrival, officers found Miles suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the front parking lot of the business. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the scene to interview witnesses and gather evidence. Investigators have not yet identified a motive for the shooting. Preliminary information suggests that the victim was approached by a man in the parking lot before the shooting took place. The suspect fled the scene on foot, and while officers set up a perimeter, they were unable to locate him at that time.
