Three Suspects Arrested in Vehicle Break-In at Decatur Apartment Complex

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, DeKalb County Police responded to reports of three individuals breaking into vehicles at an apartment complex located at 750 Avondale Creek Drive in Decatur. Upon arrival, officers apprehended one suspect attempting to flee, who was found in possession of a stolen Glock 19 and glass-breaking tools. The remaining two suspects were located shortly after and taken into custody without incident.

The suspects, 22-year-old Jharis Dshaun Murchison of Decatur, 20-year-old Cameron Smith of Avondale Estates, and 25-year-old Walter Anthony Collins Jr. of Conyers, were booked into the DeKalb County Jail. All three face charges of Entering an Automobile with Intent to Commit Theft and Possession of Tools for Commission of a Crime. Collins faces an additional charge of Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers.
