Bridge Closure at Franklin/Madison County Line on US 29 Begins October 14th

Royston Police Department has issued a reminder about the upcoming closure of the bridge at the Franklin and Madison County line on US 29. The closure is scheduled to begin tomorrow, October 14, 2024, with an expected project duration of 12 months.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has released the official detour routes for drivers:

  • Northbound Traffic on SR8/US29: Detour via SR174 North to SR106 North, then to SR51 East, continuing back to SR174 North, and reconnecting with SR8/US29 North.
  • Southbound Traffic on SR8/US29: Detour via SR174 South to SR51 West, then to SR106 South, continuing back to SR174 West, and reconnecting with SR8/US29 South.

Travelers are advised to plan their routes accordingly and expect delays in the area.
