Woman Shot in the Head in Ongoing Dispute, Monroe Police Investigating

At approximately 12:14 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, Monroe Police responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Perry Street. Officers found that the victim, Leonard Cox Jr., had been shot once in the head and was transported to an Athens Area Hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, detectives determined the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Cox Jr. and a female. The shooter, a third party, is currently detained by Monroe Police for further investigation.
