Officer Discharges Firearm During Encounter with Aggressive Dog in Adair Park Area

On October 3, 2024, at around 11:45 AM, officers from the Atlanta Police Department went to 822 Brookline Street in the Adair Park area to check for a male suspect with outstanding felony warrants. As one officer approached the front door and knocked, an occupant opened the door, and an aggressive dog charged out ahead of them.

The occupant attempted to control the dog but was unsuccessful as it quickly advanced toward the officer. In response to the imminent threat, the officer discharged his firearm, striking the aggressive dog. After being shot, the dog retreated back into the home and remained inside while officers were on the scene.

The occupants of the house declined any services from animal control, indicating they would manage the situation themselves. After searching the residence, officers were unable to locate the wanted male suspect, and he remains at large.
