Man Arrested After Pointing Gun at Driver Near Newnan High School
On September 25, 2024, at approximately 3:46 p.m., the Newnan Police Department responded to a report of a gun being pointed at a driver near Newnan High School. The incident occurred when one male driver pulled up beside another vehicle in downtown Newnan and pointed a firearm. The victim, who was on his way to pick up his child from school, immediately drove away from the armed individual, heading towards the area near Newnan High School.
The Newnan Police Department quickly located the individuals involved and stopped the suspect’s vehicle. During the arrest, officers found the weapon inside the vehicle. While the incident occurred near the school, it did not take place on school property, and at no time was the weapon displayed on school grounds. Authorities confirmed that no direct threat was made toward the school or students.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident, and police continue to investigate the matter.
