Troup County Issues Shelter-in-Place Advisory as Severe Weather Approaches
Hurricane Helene Projected Path

Troup County officials are urging residents to shelter in place starting at 11 p.m. tonight due to the impending arrival of tropical storm force winds and heavy rain. Emergency Management Director Zac Steele advises that conditions will worsen overnight, creating potentially life-threatening situations.

Travel on roadways is strongly discouraged until sunrise, as numerous trees are expected to fall, blocking roads, and causing significant power outages. Emergency personnel will also be sheltering in place during this period until it is safe to resume operations.

Residents are thanked for their patience and understanding as the community braces for the severe weather.
