Alpharetta Fire Department Responds to Chemical Leak at Westside Parkway Business

On Thursday afternoon, September 19, 2024, units from the Alpharetta Fire Department, including Hazmat 84, Quint 83, Squad 83, and Battalion 8, responded to a hazmat incident at a business on Westside Parkway near Hembree Road. The company, which handles various industrial chemicals, discovered a damaged cylinder containing a toluene diisocyanate-based chemical that had begun leaking during transport.

The business staff successfully isolated the material and called for assistance. Upon arrival, the Alpharetta Fire Department’s hazmat team secured the leaking cylinder inside an overpack drum for safe disposal.

No injuries or illnesses were reported in the incident.
